Soon we will celebrate the birth of the greatest gift that the world has ever known. Of course I am talking about
JESUS CHRIST *PRAISE HIM*!
I get giddy with happiness when I imagine how wonderful Jesus *Praise Him* really is, and that one day He *Praise Him* came down to earth as just a teeny tiny helpless baby, cradled in His *Praise Him* mother's arms.
In our family, my Husband Joseph has some very firm ideas about Christmas, and I agree with him on all counts. There are no pagan Christmas trees for our family. There are no brightly colored lights and gaily wrapped gifts or wooden soldiers or gingerbread houses or visits with Santa Claus.
When you really stop to think about it, I think that Santa Claus is a tool of the devil. Just think of it this way, the children are encouraged to go to him and ask for all kinds of things, everything they can imagine wanting. As long as their behavior matches what this man in a red suit says is good, they will be rewarded. WHAT?? The only reward is an eternity in HEAVEN and the only one who can judge all of us is GOD THE FATHER *Praise Him*
In the weeks of Advent, the time before Christmas for you non-believers (and please know I pray ESPECIALLY FOR YOU!!) we remove all decorations from our home. Family pictures, paintings, vases, children's artwork, candles, clocks... everything. The house is very empty and grey and unhappy. This is how the world was before JESUS *Praise Him*! We lived in a world with no hope of eternal glory! Why celebrate that with glowing trees and candy canes? I just will NEVER understand.
On Christmas morning my children come down and all of our decor has been replaced. We also string lights across our living room and in the Table of God *Praise Him* hallway. We have a special breakfast and talk about how lucky we are that God *Praise Him* sent Jesus *Praise Him* to us! Then we go to Mass and celebrate the day. The children are allowed to stay up late as we discuss the birth of Jesus *Praise Him* late into the night. It is truly a joyous and celebratory day for all of us! HOW LUCKY WE ARE!!
Please know how much God *Praise Him* loves each and every part of you!
As Always,
Kneeling in Awe of Him *Praise Him*,
Mary Agnes
